Zach came across an old dog in the shelter who was surrendered because he had cancer. He couldn’t just let the senior boy die in there alone, so he decided to take him home.
He thought he might give the 16-year-old dog a happy final few days or weeks, but he got more than he bargained for from Henry! 🙂
The dog seemed to be at the end, but the very next morning he had a new pep in his step! They then scheduled to get the cancer removed, and Henry started running and galloping around the yard every day.
Months later, the boy was doing better than ever and adoption applications were rolling in. It was time for that next chapter, and he’d be surrounded by love for the rest of his life!

She was rescued in the nick of time. Her organs had begun to shut down. As you can see from her face, she is in pain, weak and afraid. Every bone on her body painfully showed.
Angel’s body wasn’t just shutting down but so was she. Being unloved and mistreated for this long had really broken her down. But that was all about to change– now that she was in the care of loving people.
Angel’s body wasn’t just shutting down but so was she. Being unloved and mistreated for this long had really broken her down.
But that was all about to change– now that she was in the care of loving people.
Each day, Angel improved. As Rescue From The Hart says in their video, “We lent her our strength, until one day she found her own,” is so profound. But as you will see, they were spot on! Angel took their lead.
They saw positivity in their eyes and believed them when they told her that she is now loved and will be okay. And then… she stood up all on her own! Do you know how incredible that is?!
With a steady diet and continued medical care, Angel gained weight. Her body was no longer weak.
She looked so healthy and was beginning to understand what it meant to be a dog.
She made friends at her foster home and then Angel received the best news possible– Angel found a forever home!
While we do understand the desire to remain blissfully unaware of animal abuse is sometimes easier, it’s not the answer.
When you love animals to the core, fighting for their well-being is truly the epitome of compassion. Getting stories out there, like Angel’s, is how rescue groups survive. They operate on donations from animal lovers like us. It’s not just about giving money.
It’s also about sharing stories like Angel’s so people can see exactly what happens when rescuers do their job when they have the resources they need.
We ask that you continue to share stories of survival, like Angel’s, so rescue groups can continue to thrive. And animals like Angel get forever homes.

Her favorite game is peek-a-boo! She gets a kick out of it, and I’m not quite sure why. If it keeps her happy, though, I don’t care. I’ll do anything to make her smile!
Here we are playing peekaboo and I’ll tell you a little more about why babies think this game is so entertaining!
Boo! Ha! It gets her every time!
Anyway, I was asking my mom why she liked this game so much (I do this to my older brother all the time and he does not think it’s that fun) and she told me about object permanence.
Apparently, up until a certain age, babies don’t realize that things that are outside their line of sight still exist.
So, she basically thinks that every time I hide behind this chair that I’m gone forever. Then, when I pop up again, she gets super excited!
It’s a really funny thing to watch and it keeps her occupied, so our mom lets us play it as much as we want.
Uh-oh! Where did I go? She is probably so worried right now, but it’s okay because I always pop back up!
One time we were playing this and she got so upset that I hid from her and she started crying. She does that a lot, the crying thing.
Puppies don’t cry like hoomans do; hoomans are much louder.
I’m trying to think of another game to play with her but I can’t think of anything that she would find fun, since she isn’t walking quite yet.
I’m back again! See the difference in her smile? I love that I can get this kind of reaction from her.
She really is the best little sister that a pup could ask for. Sure, she poops in the house and doesn’t get in trouble for it like I do, but that’s okay.
Sometimes we have to deal with a little poop from the people we love. I wish my mom would be a little easier on me about that though, because sometimes I don’t make it to the doggy door in time!
Alright, I’m off to plan some other games for the tiny hooman. I am hoping she will start walking soon and we can play “chase the squirrels” together. That’s my favorite game!
