Dog in Budweiser commercial was Super Bowl’s breakout star — he belongs to two of Hollywood’s biggest actors

The Super Bowl was on Sunday, and like every year the commercials were as noteworthy as the game itself, packed with major stars including Beyonce, Jeff Goldblum, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez.

But one of this year’s breakout commercial stars also has some surprising celebrity pedigree — he’s the dog of Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell!
The celebrity power couple’s pet lab Roy Hawn Russell is the latest “nepo baby” to conquer Hollywood after starring in this year’s Budweiser Super Bowl spot, co-starring alongside the iconic Budweiser Clydesdales.

The minute-long commercial, titled “Old School Delivery,” sees the Clydesdales making a Bud delivery through a snowstorm after the highways are shut down. When the drivers get lost in the snow, a yellow lab shows up to lead them to the bar.

It was a favorite among the Super Bowl ads — people loved seeing the Budweiser Clydesdales back in the commercials, especially paired with a dog. And it, of course, went over huge in the Russell-Hawn household, as the stars were thrilled to see their dog make his big debut.

“Don’t get me wrong I love watching football but tonight was all about watching our dog Roy Hawn Russell star in his first superbowl commercial,” Hawn wrote on Instagram, sharing a video of the family ecstatically watching the spot and cheering on Roy.

Hawn’s daughter Kate Hudson also shared a video of her own watch party, with guests cheering on the family dog. “Oh my god, Roy!” one voice is heard saying.

“There’s a lot of thespians in this families but tonight there was only one star,” Kate Hudson wrote.

Hawn and Russell are the owners of a pack of dogs, and have had Roy since January 2021. Photos posted by Hawn show the dog as a puppy and at a year old, back in his pre-fame days.

According to a Budweiser press release, the commercial was directed by Oscar-nominated and Emmy-winning director Henry-Alex Rubin. The ad also features Fred Dana, a real-life Budweiser wholesaler who has been with the company for over 34 years.

While Roy is Hollywood royalty, it’s not clear how he ended up with the gig or if his acting career will continue beyond the Super Bowl spot. Either way, this dog definitely had his moment in the spotlight, and proves that acting talent runs deep in this family.

We loved this commercial during the Super Bowl, and couldn’t believe this dog belonged to Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell! A star is born! 🤩❤️
